Sounds fun

Recently, Kyra has been making a very specific request at bed time about the day’s next activities. Most nights it has been, “Hike tomorrow?” When she asked last night, I had to tell her no. I saved her the excuses (it’s not a weekend, you’ve been sick, etc) and instead decided to tell her about the day’s plans.

I told her we were meeting Nana at a fabric store to choose the fabric for her dress. I told her that she was going to be in Steve and Rachel’s wedding and that there would be a party afterwards. Not the kind with party hats but a party nonetheless. She looked at me with a smile and replied, “Sounds fun.”

Indeed, it does.

Just to give you idea where Kyra’s at with her language and personality, I have to include another story about Kyra’s Bwanket. It’s still her most prized possession, but now she’s willing to share it if she holding it but wants to do something else. Lately, she’ll give up her blanket by saying, “Daddy (Mommy) hold bwanket.” Sometimes she’ll look over to make sure you have the tag and place it in your hand if you’ve neglected it. Just a couple of days ago, she took it one step further. It seems Kyra wants you to feel the complete comfort the blanket has to offer. She wants you to suck your thumb while holding the blanket (something she automaticly does when she’s holding it). Except she doesn’t say “suck your thumb.” Last night, while Josh was holding the blanket Kyra said, “Daddy, put your thumb in your mouth.” I don’t know if Kyra’s wish was fulfilled that night, but don’t be surprised if both Josh and I develop thumbsucking habits. Kyra’s pretty hard to say no to.

I wouldn’t count out the party hats just yet… This whole story was so cute!

I’d be careful if I were you. Same thing happened to me with my daughter and, after a few months, I started waking up with my thumb in my mouth! Really!!!
